Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage
Important!
Incomplete applications will not be accepted
- Every Kenyan wishing to marry abroad has to apply for a Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage from the Mission.
- Marriages conducted without issuance of this Certificate will neither be recognized by the Mission nor the Authorities in Kenya.
- It is important to indicate your marital status as spinster, bachelor, widowed or divorced.
- The Kenya Government neither acknowledges nor endorses same sex marriages.
- Please note that Certification can only be done at the Embassy in which case the applicant comes with the original and a copy or before a notary public.
- The Mission does not accept scanned certified copies or photocopies of certified copies.
Requirements
- Three (3) duly filled Application MA5 (Click here to download)
- An application Letter;
- Three (3) recent Passport size photographs
- Three (3) copies of the applicant’s current Kenyan passport-pages 30-32 & the Bio-Data page (certified by a notary public);
- A copy of Kenya National Identity card certified by notary public
- Three (2) copies of Kenyan birth certificate (certified by a notary public);
- Three (3) copies of the Fiancée’s (spouse to be) passport (certified by a notary public);
- Fiancée’s certified Passport copy
- Copy of Death Certificate (if widow or widower)
- Copy of Divorce Decree Absolute (If the partner had been married before and divorced)
- Sworn affidavit if the Death Certificate or Divorce Decree is more than two (2) years
- Application fee of Rs.7,500/- (Kshs 10,000/= equivalent) payable by bank demand draft in favour of Kenya High Commission, New Delhi
- A self-addressed A-4 size envelope with postage stamps to enable the Mission send back the document.
